Religious Life
The Wesley Fellowship is a Paine College United Methodist Campus Ministry. All students are invited to participate.
We are a group of people who like to have a good time. We offer many activities during the course of the school year: retreats, picnics, parties, workshops, fundraisers, trips, missions, community service projects, revivals and many other ministries. Oh yes, let's not forget, we have lots of food too!
The Wesley Fellowship is a fun organization where you can make new friends, talk to people who care, and escape the overwhelming stress of college life. It is an organization where you can be you and grow in faith too.
When Paine is in session we meet every Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Odeum. Our meetings generally include Praise and Worship, Prayer, Bible Study, snacks and laughing and fellowshipping with one another. Special guests also come to do music, talks, and other presentations that make religion holistic. After the meetings, we enjoy a joyful fellowship.
We attend several retreats each year:
- Georgia Wesley Student Movement - Fall and Spring
- Interdenominational Theological Center Conference on the Ministry
- Southeastern Jurisdiction organization of Black Methodists for Church Renewal (SEJ-BMCR) - Fall
- National Black Methodists for Church Renewal (BMCR) - Spring
These opportunities encourage us to get to know, understand, and appreciate each other and grow closer to Jesus.
Wesley seeks to encourage students to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We see religion as being holistic. As such, we seek to minister to the whole person (spiritually, financially, socially, mentally, physically, etc.). The holistic approach allows students to be themselves and to feel comfortable as they mature in the Word of God.
In addition to ministering to the needs of students, Wesley seeks to encourage, foster and affirm positive self-esteem in ALL students. Come and join the fellowship.
